Loraine Ortiz

Hi everybody!

My name is Loraine. I'm 25 years old and I've been a writer since I could hold a pencil. I self published my first novel when I was nine. It was a story of a girl who rode a horse halfway across the country to see the ocean. It was a great success among audiences with the last name Ortiz. I kept writing and publishing until I got to high school. Then I decided I was interested in print journalism. I didn't think the school newspaper covered interesting topics, so I started my own. I went to school at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and majored in English and marketing.

While I was in school I launched a website and blog that covered food, fashion, and entertainment in the Lafayette area. I also joined the school newspaper. Initially, I planned to find a job in marketing or corporate communications. Everything changed when one of my followers asked me to write a few guest blogs for her interior decorating website. I did, and she like my work well enough to pass my name on to a few friends. By the time I finished college, I had my LLC and was working as a writer full time.

I currently live in my hometown of Ft. Myers, Florida where I rent a house with my little brother, right down the street from my parent's home. I love traveling to major cities such as Paris, New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, but I also enjoy having my nice comfortable home base. When I'm not writing, which is very rare, I enjoy cooking authentic southern food, deep sea fishing, and playing fantasy football. I've recently taken up knitting, but I have yet to produce anything that somebody could wear. I'm also in the infant stages of writing my first full length book as an adult. There are no horses so far.

Content rsz 6 survival tips for life in a college dorm

If you have ever watched Big Brother on television, you will know what a nightmare the wrong combination of people in a house can be. Big Brother lasts only a couple of weeks at most, and then everybody goes home. In a college dorm you are thrown into much the same situation; stuck on a floor with a bunch of people that you have never met before in your life. Lots of egos, insecurities, good and bad habits, noise, drink, drugs, and of course, the "S" word!
